Jen Finishes and video to come

Jen finished the Vancouver Island quest this morning at 6AM. I will be posting video snippets here over the next few days, while I begin sifting through 8 hours of raw footage and creating a documentary of the expedition. Should be done in 5-6 months, seriously. :)

Filming, St. Josef Beach

Your Camera man in action, well maybe not to much action. :) Tomorrow will be a busy day chasing Jen on the Juan de Fuca Trial, so I will up date from the Truck when able.

Start of last nights bike

Jen and Norm headed out on a 200km bike last night, 9pm, in the pouring rain. By 4AM, 100km in, they were sleep bonking and swerving on the road. It was time for an hour of sleep. Here is the start of that section after coming of Strathcona peak.

Truck Cam

Erik and Stan following Jen with cameras. This is from our on-board truck cam. Not good quality but easy while you are driving. :)

Some Details

Jen left Bamfield, Start of the West Coast trail, at about 3pm Wednesday. She should complete the trail in 18-20hrs. We will see her at the end of the trail at about 8AM Thursday morning. She will have about a 20km bike, 1hr, possibly 1hr sleep and then onto the Juan de Fuca Trail headed to Victoria.

If you have any questions post them as comments and I will try to address them tonight until 11pm.
This is a raw video clip of the Strathcona section, yesterday. Jen completed 200km of mountain bike today, That is a total of 520km of mountain bike so far. She is now pushing through West coast trail for 18 hours non-stop. So far she has had 4 hours of sleep in 61 hours of continuous pushing.

Finally uplink!!

Starting to render new posts now. Will be posting over the next few hours. Stand by! Jen is doing well and pushing hard through the West Coast trail. She will be able to make the ferry crossing!!

Vancouver Island Quest Cambell River to Bamfield

Jen pushed hard into the morning over 100km of biking until she was swerving all over the dirt road and had to go down for an hour sleep at 4am Wednesday morning, today. After an hour she is up and hard charging to the West Coast trail in Bamfield. She is looking good, but underneath you can sense urgency, extreme fatigue and some frustration. She has to hit the West Coast trail head at 1pm today or she will be thrown off by the short ferry crossing on the West Coast trail. She is trying to sustain 20+km/hr right now, over some pretty rough road. She has 93km to go and should make it. Finally stopped raining and some sun coming out. Update as soon as we get service again.

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Jen Segger arrives at Strathcona Park, Paradise Meadows at approx. 7pm Tuesday. She is in good shape and is now down for an hours sleep. Then off for a 110km Mt. Bike, which will take here back to the west coast of Vancouver Island and the West Coast Trail. I will post some video in a few hours. Cold and wet here, just raining and raining.

On location Vancouver Island, BC, Canada

We are on location in Strathcona Provincial Park, BC. We expected Jen Segger in from her 50km run/trek at 5pm PST, but the weather has been horrible and now we hope to see her in at 10pm PST. She was able to place a call on top of Mt. Albert and let us know. She is freezing, it is raining continuously and the visibility is near zero. Take a look at where we wait for her below the mountain, at the local ski resort.
